Simply put, Rei is the surname of the founder, Rita Linzi-Rei, of Rei of Light Yoga Instruction & Movement Therapy, and Rei
is pronounced 'ray'.
Delving a little deeper, Rita is also a Reiki Master - Teacher and Registered Reiki practitioner, as well as a Certified Yoga
Teacher (and Pilates Instructor).
When the word, Reiki, is broken down, 'Rei' means universal, and 'Ki' means vital life force or energy in Japanese.
Yoga is one of the most complete and universal systems: it is a complete view of life, of the humankind and other living
beings and of the whole cosmos. The science of yoga is a precious gift from the Indian sages who attained the complete
realization of all laws of existence. In spite of the fact that yoga geographically originates from India, its ancient wisdom is
universal and eternal. The yogic concept of a vital life force is referred to as 'Prana', similar to the Japanese idea of 'Ki'
or Chinese 'Chi', which enters the body through the breath. Prana is thought to flow through the body, bringing health and
vitality. It is considered the vital link between the spiritual self and the material self.
So, how could we resist? Hence, Rei (ray) of Light was born.

“When the surface of a lake is still, one can see to the bottom very clearly. This is impossible when the surface is agitated by waves. In the same way, when the mind is still, with no thoughts or desires, you can see the "Self" this is called "Yoga".
